Immigrant Services Calgary and BABAE and their volunteers organized a very successful picinic for all the foreign temporary workers in Calgary at the Marlborough Park Community Centre last Sunday, September 6, 2009.  There were over 200 workers that registered to attend the event.

The organizers have lunches and snacks for everyone.  There were games played for the day and kids enjoyed painting and other games as well.  There were blow-up trampoulines where adults and kids had a fun time.  Door prizes and raffle draws were also a part of the day’s activity.

Another important thing that the organizers did for the event is to provide shuttle service to those who do not  have any way to getting to the venue.  Shuttle buses were available from 10 am to 10:45 am at the parking lot of the Centre for Newcomers and took them to the venue for the picnic.

We would to thank the organizers, especially the people behind success of the event, Mr. Renato Abanto, TFW Settlement Coordinator for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, Avnish Mehta -  Program Coordinator, Temporary Foreign Worker Intergration Business, Employment and Training Services, Cesar Agudelo and Zita Flores of the Immigrant Services Calgary and Maribel Javier of BABAE and not to forget all the volunteers who gave in their time to help in anyway they could.
