HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

In this day and age, you will rarely find an honest person that will be true to every word that he/she says.  Most of the time, they pretend to be such even if they are not.  I believe that whoever we are now, it all started when we were born, how we were raised by our parents, how we get influenced by family, friends and the environment around us.  So when it comes to HONESTY, I would say it started when we were still a child.  No parent would allow their children to be a liar.  But when we get out there, started school, meet friends, get influenced by environment, then our parents sometimes lose control of how their children’s character changed from very good to very poor.  But one thing is for sure, an honest person will go a long way with life because pretentious people will not benefit from all the lies they tell other people and in the end you will be caught with your own little tricks.

It’s just like the boy who cried WOLF!  After several cries, no one came to his rescue anymore.  And that’s because nobody wants to believe in him anymore.  When a person makes a false claim or statement, that person just wants to make themselves look the best of the best.  Then someone finds out the truth behind your lies.  Aren’t you afraid that it will bite you in the end?  It has always been said that people of the same feather flock together.  So tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.  Be honest to yourself and true to your words because you are only fooling yourself and nobody else.  At the end of the day, whatever you have done to others will haunt you back.

There are so many lessons you will learn from being honest and not being honest.  There are so-called white lies will eat up a person inside and guilt usually follows and regret for not telling the truth. Honesty is also a key ingredient of integrity for you can’t have one without the other. People need to know that they can trust you and that you will follow through with what you said or promised to them. If you happen to fall short tell them honestly instead of masking it with white lies that will leave you feeling empty.  Honesty is a trait that everyone desires to have but few people possess, why? Because in this world that we live in it’s much harder to stay in the right path because of the many temptations that we tend to succumb to as human beings. Nobody’s perfect and everybody has their own frailties and short comings but we should strive to rise up from these faults and be better people in the end. Until my next article, take care and be safe out there!
