2010 Pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kasarinlan ng Pilipinas sa Calgary

(The Philippine Independence Day GALA)

An estimated attendance of over 150-200 Filipinos including myself and my husband and various dignitaries, all gathered for the celebration of the 112th anniversary of The Philippine Independence. This black-tie and Filipino cultural costume event filled the hall of The Westin Hotel –Calgary on June 12, 2010. The program included cultural and dramatic shows and stage presentations showcasing Filipino traditional songs, dances and performances by members of the Philippine Cultural Center Foundation (PCCF) Performing Arts.

The program coordinated by both FSE Financial Group Inc and The Zambales Association of Calgary commenced by singing both “Lupang Hinirang” and “O’ Canada”. Welcoming remarks were provided by Felix Guerrero, Principal of FSE Financial Group, followed by Nora Ragadio, President of the Zambales Association of Calgary. The Honorary Consul of Republic of Guinea also lavished congratulatory remarks to the Filipinos in attendance.

While having our sumptuous dinner, several groups from the Zambales Association of Calgary and Youth Groups performed special presentations featuring different cultural dances, songs and music.

Before closing the program, Ms Theresa Woo-Paw, MLA Calgary Mackay, shared an inspirational address followed by closing remarks by Cesar Cala.

Then here were a few more special Philippine Cultural presentations performed by the PCCF Performing Arts before everyone danced the night away. It was truly a very enjoyable evening of culture and traditions…Mabuhay ang Kasarinlan ng Pilipinas!!!!
