GlobalFest  has   celebrated another a remarkable accomplishment for  the 8th year in a row. This not-for-profit society has celebrated and showcased Calgary’s cultural diversity and artistic exhibition par excellence  once again in 2010.  As they celebrated a world of difference, Globalfest has produced yet another world- class multi cultural festival and international  pyro-musical competition.

Globalfest  2010 burst the ground with   24 Cultural Pavilions, 12 Ethnic Food Kiosks, 3 One-World Performance Stages and of course the highlight of the celebration, the battle of the best pyro-musical entries of Globalfest  from Germany,  Italy, Portugal and Spain. Also at the  grounds were  One-World Café and International Bar for nights of  fun and  the Calgary Co-op Kiddies Korral.

Festival-goers  flooded the lake ground of   Elliston Park during  this   9-day event  as early as 6am starting August 20th, 2010 until firework exhibitions on alternating nights had concluded.   Firework spectators  and enthusiasts came early with  their chairs and  mats to experience all the sights and  sounds of this world premiere presentation of the International Fireworks Festival together with the  tastes that the One-World Festival has to offer .  The lake showcased a shimmering mirror as each firework exploded toward  the sky which created reflections in the water and  gave  distinct dimensions that   made Elliston Park the perfect  venue. Each execution  has  made audiences  loose  themselves in the colours and rhythms of the display while being mesmerized by the grand explosions and forms of the fireworks with a  set theme together with  8 songs of synchronized music.

The  Alberta’s Most Explosive Festival kicked off the first night with  Germany, presented by  Steffes-Ollig GmbH & Co KG with show entitled “Fantasy in the Sky”  The team featured  effects such as multi break cylindrical shells, waterfalls, fountains, cakes, and spherical shells.

The second night entry was  from Italy  presented by Parente Fireworks with their show  called “Capriccio Italiano” They used a mosaic of rays shells, stars mine, peony roman candles, multi explosion shells, and gold glitter.

Third night featured   Portugal, also a Winner of the 2006 Guinness Book of World Records “The Largest Display Fireworks,” by Macedo’s Pirotecnia . The show entitled “Sinfonia de Fogo” using  Portuguese pieces like shells, vulcans, comets, roman candles, thunders, and fountains.

The last night’s presentation was from Spain, was chosen as  the Best Pyromusical of GlobalFest for the Second Year in a Row! It was executed by Pirotecnia Turis S.L. with a show title “Spanish Caprice” They  used cylindrical and spherical shells, roman candles, mines, and shells with ascent whistles and meteors for the show.

The fifth and final night of GlobalFest 2010 featured an incredible firework show designed by Canada’s own Alain Carbonneau. The Calgary Sun’s People’s Choice awards for favourite OneWorld Cultural Pavilion, OneWorld Food Kiosk, and Pyromusical performance were also announced  with  the  following  winners:

An  equally  exciting announcement of the evening was the  revealing of nations that will be participating for  GlobalFest 2011 pyromusicals, CHINA – PHILIPPINES – SOUTH KOREA – ITALY.  With food, performances, arts and culture all over the world, it was truly  a blast to end summer with literally a big bang at the GlobalFest 2010 –Alberta’s most explosive festival!!!
