Get active!
Studies show that being active helps in preventing us from catching the common cold.  Those who exercised for 20 minutes a day for five days or more – had a 40% reduction in upper respiratory tract infections (the common cold); compared to those who got one day or less of exercise a week.  There was also a 32% difference in the severity of the illness between those who were fit and those who were less fit.

Eat clean!
With the cold temperatures, your body needs to be nourished with wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, lentils and probiotic yogurt.  The nutrients will help protect your immune system, helping you fight off the flu.
Nutrition experts say that “A healthy diet that includes protein and plenty of fruits and vegetables will help your body produce white blood cells and immune compounds that fight infection.

Drink water!
Staying hydrated is also key to staying healthy in the winter.  Dehydration causes tiny cracks to form in your nasal membranes where virus-filled droplets move in and promote infection.
