KofC and Canadian Blood Services’ Blood Typing Day

KofC and Canadian Blood Services’ Blood Typing Day thumbnail

It was a fair sunny day on Saturday the 5th of November, when the All-Filipino Knights Of Columbus joint forces with the Canadian Blood Services in their efforts to raise awareness on blood donation.  The event took place at the Marlborough Community Centre in the NE and everyone was invited to have their blood typed.

It was safe and easy. The typing is the initial step in order to know what a person’s actual blood type is. Members from the Council and their family and friends came to support the venture in order to have the preliminary step in giving and donating blood.

Blood donation is very important because it can actually save the lives of many who are sick with cancer, those involved in accidents, or someone who is in critical need within days of donation.

Blood is not like a canned good. It can’t be stored for a long period of time. That is why they rely on donors coming regularly to replenish the supply.

With this call for need of donors, the K of C Council 14767 San Lorenzo Ruiz Council thought of disseminating the information by expanding it through their network of members, its family and friends.

For further information or to know more on the next schedule for the actual blood donation event, please log on to wwww.blood.ca or call 1888 2 DONATE.  The Knights of Columbus thanks everyone who participated in this community event.
