YOUNG ONCE SENIORS ASSOCIATION RETREATS TO JASPER

A recent road trip we took with the Young Once Seniors Association of Calgary (YOSAC) has proven that age doesn’t matter! Two bus loads of people a little older than us went on a two day excursion that took us to Jasper, Alberta. Various stops along the way included Lake Louise. Saskatchewan Crossing and The Columbia Icefields.

How refreshing it was just to be cruising down the highway, Paul Anka crooning away, viewing the beauty of the Rockies and God’s many creations. Every now and then a lively ABBA tune would come on and some of our seniors were up dancing in the aisles.

It doesn’t matter how many times we stop at Lake Louise, each time it gets more beautiful. Ample time was available to just sit and enjoy the view, and many photos were taken.

Arriving at our hotel in Jasper in the late afternoon allowed us to freshen up and prepare for the evening festivities.

A delicious feast, followed by numerous entertainers as well as the crowning of Ms. and Mr. YOSAC of Jasper 2013, comprised the evening. A lot of time was spent socializing, new friends were made and old acquaintances were renewed. Unfortunately, an evening thunderstorm knocked out the electricity to the entire town plunging our hotel into darkness. Since it had been a long day for everyone, there were very few complaints.

A good nights rest rejuvenated everyone for the trip home which included a fun stop at The Columbia Icefields.

All in all it was a great trip, well organized, awesome weather and full of remarkable stops. Our seniors had a blast and are already looking forward to the next journey!
