by CK May is the month of flowers not just in the Philippines but also here in Calgary.  A lot of my neighbors have done their spring cleaning and unfortunately I cannot cope up with them.  I remember that during this time of the year my husband, Hank gets busier day by day.  He takes care [...]

The Other Side

By now everyone is into 2016 and the busy but fun Christmas and New Years celebrations are just a memory. No doubt the next couple of months we will put the wrong year on cheques and correspondence. We never said we were perfect!

I don’t look at the New Year with hopes of peace, prosperity and all the fancy words people use with their hopes and Prayers. Instead I take action and make them happen and make any changes needed to make life fun and enjoyable. Just sitting back and hoping does not accomplish a lot.

Just to be alive, living in Canada, having a job and a loving spouse is a lot to be thankful for and God has Blessed Ludy and I with these and a few more memories in 2015. The 73 Albums and 12,000 beautiful photos we added to Facebook in 2015 shows how much we saw and did.

We don’t make a lot of plans in advance but will for sure continue our day trips and weekend tours. We both enjoy the experiences a lot and it helps both our mental as well as physical health. Additionally, Ludy will probably go to Mexico with some good friends and we would like to take a fall trip back to my hometown in Ontario, near Toronto.

Another exciting prospect has come up, and that is that Immigration Canada has changed the Sponsoring rules and after 11 years of trying, we may be able to bring our 11 year old daughter Stephanie to Calgary from the Philippines. We thank the Lord and we thank our friends as well as our brothers and sisters in our Church for never giving up on the Prayers! Myself, I had given up hope but God answers Prayers in His time, not ours!

With Pinoy Times going into its’ 8th year we will make time for attending any related events and concerts and make contributions when we can. It is a blast meeting so many people including new, young and beautiful Filipino talent and Ludy and I thank Connie our Publisher for giving us these opportunities.

With Alberta’s economy taking a nosedive recently it means making a few adjustments but life will go on and in a short time we will recover. I moved from Ontario in 1978 after finishing high school and after living in Edmonton for 12 years, Vancouver for 5 years and now Calgary for 20 years, I have no regrets. There is so much to see and do with the few pennies leftover from our pay cheques. We are also looking forward to about 5 years from now when we will retire from work which gives us 40 more hours per week to play!

Here’s hoping you can make the most of your time and pursue your dreams, desires and wishes in 2016!

Steve
