New York City – Where Dreams are made of…

Dreams do come true

As the Alicia Key’s song “Empire State of Mind” goes, “In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of”- The line is stating that this “concrete jungle” is held in such high prestige that it is often found in one’s dreams and aspirations- my dream that is. “these streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you” — That was literally I felt whenever I’m there. Though it was my second time in the Big Apple, it definitely gives magic and some sort of excitement. This time was much more special because I got to travel with my dad. (another dream came true)

Once, I was just dreaming to see the famous Statue of Liberty, to ride the Subway, to walk around Time Square, to watch some Broadway shows and to taste some of the authentic foods that this city can offer. Well, thanks to my job and the perks I have, I got to travel for less and made my dream and turned it into reality.

Indeed it is truly magical when in New York City. It blew me away with it’s world’s known landmarks and tapered skyscrapers.

Being a Flight Attendant I can pretty much plan my monthly schedule. So getting three to four days off could lead me to escape and go for a quick getaway. The last thing I know, I’m in New York City – the city that never sleep!

Top Picks

I’ve done Broadway, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Queens (where Jollibee is located) and Brooklyn are all equally gorgeous and exciting. But let’s take a look to most touristy spots that you don’t wanna missed when in New York. Here’s the glimpse of how New York City is best to experience.

1. Time Square – One of the many favorite of mine is Time Square, iconic as the world’s “heart” and it’s “Crossroads”, the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District, one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections & major center of the world’s entertainment industry. The best part was to just sat at the red stairs while having a cup of coffee, watch people walked by snapping some photos (of course don’t forget yours too for souvenir) and taking some selfies. Simply watched them smile! That for me alone is real Happiness.

2. Lower Manhattan - has built itself again.  The main draw is the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Take time to really explore this area. Two memorial
fountains were built to the exact places where the Twin Towers originally situated. The new World Trade Centre Subway station was stunning with it’s one of a kind architecture design where you can actually shop inside with some well known brands.

  1. Statue of Liberty – trip will never be completed without having to see and snap a selfie with one of the famous landmark of NYC. Experience the beauty of this ferry ride. Take the perfect picture of Lady Liberty and the NYC Skyline from the island.
  1. Food – there were so many to try on but if you are on the search of good ramen like myself, Go check out Ippudo (65 4th Ave. NY) They have the best ramen I’ve had by far. Then of course, meals won’t be complete without some sweet tasting desserts. Head up to Momofuko Milk Bar (251 E 13th St. NY), where they offer an original Milk Cereals, yummy Ice cream and crack pie to die for. And grab a coffee at Eataly Flatiron (200 5th Ave. NY) with their great authentic Italian taste. Also, Don’t miss to try the famous burger & fries of NY – The Shake Shacks at the Grand Central Station!

—Doing what you are passionate of doing makes you happy and give you some sort of this little feeling that you can’t even describe (I call it “kilig” maybe?). And when you start doing what you love and what you really enjoy of doing, you tend to get it done with a smile on your face. Isn’t?

Keep on believing in yourself that YOU CAN! It may take a long road, but hey, Time will come and that dream of yours will sooner than later becomes reality.
