It’s been 23 years since I’ve moved to Canada from the Philippines.  I remember that the first thing I looked for was a Filipino community paper so I can read some news about the community being new in Calgary.  I never found any Filipino community paper back in 1996. From them on I told myself that when the right time comes, I will publish a Filipino community to keep my fellow pinoys well informed with what’s going on in the community and in the province as well.

It was in July 2008 that I started to conceptualize my dream.  At first my late husband was hesitant about the idea.  But later on, I explained to him why I want to do it and he finally understood and supported my dream. It was my son, Roberto who gave me the name PINOY TIMES to use for my community paper.  I remember talking to most Filipino entrepreneurs about the launching of PINOY TIMES in August 2008.  I can’t believe that in a month’s time, I was able to get at least 30 advertisers and managed to published 24 pages for the maiden issue of PINOY TIMES.

10 years after, 2018, PINOY TIMES is now a household name, and to add to it, we also spread our wings with our radio program PINOY TIMES ON AIR 94.7 FM.  There were challenges along the way, but with passion and dedication to my dream, I take this challenges as a way to improve more on what I can offer the community in terms of public service to the people.

I dedicate this 10 years of PINOY TIMES to my late husband, Henry, who has been very supportive to the fact that he used to write gardening articles for the readers.  I would like to thank all advertisers who has supported me and gave me their trust all the way from scratch until now that I have a total of 120 issues of PINOY TIMES.  Without my advertisers, PINOY TIMES will not make it in circulation for a decade.  And to all my writers/contributors, thank you for all your efforts, time and dedication to impart your ideas and knowledge to our readers.  Pinoy Times will not be complete without your presence every month.

I am thankful to the Lord Almighty for giving me the strength to go thru all the storms in my life and yet He gave me this one decade of accomplishment for my publication.  I will continue to be PINOY TIMES and hopefully you will be with us for another decade if God allows it to happen.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
