IGLESIA NI CRISTO IN CALGARY MAKES A HUGE IMPACT BY DONATING 35,865LBS OF FOOD thumbnail

The year 2020 have been challenging to many people even in the City of Calgary, Alberta Canada. More than ever, people have been relying on additional help such as food banks. On October 31, 2020, through their Aid to Humanity Project, the Iglesia Ni Cristo community in Calgary was busy in helping aid those who are in need by dropping off boxes of non-perishable goods that reached 35,865 lbs of food. According to the Calgary Food Bank this amount blew away their last record of donation. “We believe that the best wIay to show our love for our fellowmen especially in these difficult times, due to COVID 19 pandemic and worsening economic recession, is to unite in helping one another, to heal as one and make kindness contagious to inspire more and more people in doing good works,” said Brother Rolando Gaviola, District Minister of Calgary. He also stated that “Through the leadership of our Executive Minister Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo, all the members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo all over the world are united in this endeavour in obedience to the commandments of our Almighty God to love our fellowmen” October 31, 2020 also marks the 65th birthday of Executive Minister, Eduardo V. Manalo. This food donation drive is not something new when you hear about the Iglesia Ni Cristo church. They have been promoting global awareness in spreading kindness and to help fight poverty especially during this current pandemic and recession. Through a letter Calgary Mayor, Naheed Nenshi, thanked the Iglesia Ni Cristo and hopes “that the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) will continue to be a source of inspiration to create a kind and compassionate society in the City of Calgary, and to all four corners of the earth”. It is remarkable to see how a religious organization can be able to achieve complete unity all over the world.
