What a man can do, a WOMAN can!!! Nowadays in the car industry, you’ll be surprised when a female car rep approaches you when you visit a dealership. Let us get to know one of the unbeatable star in the Filipino car industry.
RU: Can you give us a bit of background before you came to Canada.
CP: I was a realtor back in the Philippines for 14 years. I was also doing sales and marketing on the side in different industries like in non-life insurance and automotive.
RU: How was your early years coming to Canada, i.e., your first job, did you go back to school? Adjustments you made together with your family, etc.
CP: I struggled at first because of the sudden and drastic changes in my lifestyle. Being isolated from my family, with weather change, living in a foreign country with people speaking a different language, I felt like a stranger to everyone. But I persevered through the adversities and the culture shock. I started as a foreign worker in Canada and my first job was a room Attendant in a hotel from High level, Alberta. Then, after 3 years of sacrifices and homesickness, my husband and three children finally migrated and from High Level we moved to Calgary, Alberta. We decided to do this so I can have a career change and move forward.
RU: Why work as a car sales representative? And why Toyota Heninger?
CP: i decided to be a car sales representative because my passion is customer service and I love meeting different people and learning different cultures.
I choose Heninger Toyota because aside from more than 50 years in the industry, this is the only dealership in Calgary that is honest, has a good reputation and is transparent to their customers. So, you are always comfortable ,very happy and all customers keep coming back to you. Also, I believe in the brand “TOYOTA” . I want to sell something that is really reliable, low maintenance and it has a good selling value.
RU: How do you keep your customers happy and satisfied when you make a sale?
CP: I keep my customers happy by always making sure that they get all the information they need and they get the best possible deal in Calgary for Toyota vehicles. Also educating them, following up and finding the right car for them.
RU: Any piece of advice to future Filipinos who want to be a car salesman in the future?
CP: You need to love your job. Sales is so much fun and excitement you meet different people from different cultures. If you start from the scratch, be more patient, take it one at a time. You will meet some challenges but don’t be discouraged and don’t give up if once somebody turns you down instead take this as a challenge that you can be a successful and top salesperson one day.
