NEW NORMAL…YEAR 2021

NEW NORMAL…YEAR 2021 thumbnail

Hello dear readers…

We are now in 2021 and everything is now called the “new normal”. We celebrated the holidays with this lockdown, thus no social gathering was allowed. Everyone was asked to stay home so Christmas and New Year was never the same again. Gift giving was changed to dropping off gifts at the door. Chirstmas dinner and New Year dinner were only celebrated with the family living in their homes, no guests, no visitors and no friends around. It was the saddest year I should say in the entire 24 years I have celebrated the holidays in Canada. As I was locked down in the Philippines for 11 months, all I want was to have a reunion with my children and grandchildren, but I guess I have to wait until the lockdown is over. Let’s hope that the new normal this 2021 will bring back the cheers to our next Christmas and New Year.

There are so many things happening around us these days aside from the pandemic. Just a few weeks ago, there was a huge chaos in the White House and this has to do with the Presidential election where it showed that Joe Biden won over Trump. And because of this, Trump’s supporters decided to rally up to the White House and pushed their way to gain entry to the White House. On the other hand, Facebook, Twitter and You Tube suspended Trump’s accounts because of the violence brought about with all of the posts from different camps. It was a very destructive day. Gone was the quote from Abraham Lincoln, ” OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE. FOR THE PEOPLE. Times have changed the the leader of the nation is only thinking of his own welfare instead of his people. He’s more concerned about winning than accepting defeat. Maybe the Americans have to learn and use their vote wisely in order to have a good leader and hopefully, that is president-elect Joe Biden. We can only look forward to a better tomorrow. No matter what happens, we can definitely make a wise decision in the coming years to come. This is where we should never allow history to repeat itself when the leader was not good for the country..

Meanwhile in the Philippines, 2022 is just another year away and the politicians are starting to gear up for the upcoming elections. I just want to caution everyone, not to go by the last name when choosing the upcoming leaders of the country. It’s not in the name but rather in the work that they will do or have done in the past. Just look at how this government now is handling the COVID vaccine……who’s getting ahead of the others and why? Just a few weeks ago there was an article on the PSGs (Presidential Security Guards) getting the COVID vaccine even if they have not been approved by the FDA. Well, according to the source, it;s a way to protect President Duterte from getting the virus himself. But look at the frontliners, the health workers who directly have to deal with the COVID patients. Why were they not a priority? Just because it’s their job? Look at other countries where the priority for the COVID vaccines are the health workers and frontliners……they are the ones who save the lives of sick people. Why are they not prioritized by Duterte’s government? Where is Secretary Duque on this? What kind of system are they running? So next election learn to vote wisely and do not just go with the familiar names but rather with their good example and accomplishments for the people and the country. Choose a better leader that will not hide his SALN from the people. Someone who will not appoint a member of his cabinet just because of familiarity or because they came from the same province. It is very sad but true that the “PADRINO” system is still very much alive in the Philippines. I thought it will die in time but I guess not after 60 years of existence. Maybe one day…..with this new normal, politics will change for the better.

Let us all pray and hope for a COVID FREE 2021. Stay home, stay safe and stay healthy! God bless us all!
