Pinoys in Canada celebrate TFC’s anniversary as one big happy family
The Filipino Channel (TFC) celebrated its third year in Canada with a festive musical variety concert entitled One Kapamilya Go sa Canada! and Pinoys who attended were just so thankful they experienced a different kind of concert only TFC could mount.
After mounting the successful One Kapamilya Go! in the U.S.A. for two consecutive years, off to Canada TFC went.
Held at Metro Toronto Convention Center last June 5 and at Telus Calgary Convention Center last June 6, One Kapamilya Go! sa Canada drew together thousands of Filipino-Canadians to experience their very first and very own One Kapamilya Go! as one big happy family.
Tickets to the event were affordably priced at $35 only, which surprised ticketholders who got their money’s worth for a 4-hour comedy show and musical concert. “This is our way of thanking our Kapamilyas for their continued patronage of ABS-CBN programs and artists,” said ABS-CBN Canada Marketing Head Pam Castillo.
The star-studded line-up included a Halakhakan pre-show led by top comedians Pooh and Kaye Brosas who made sure everyone laughed their hearts out and enjoyed the rest of the evening. The comic act was followed by live performances from the sensational group known as The Sessionistas, who performs regularly in TFC’s top variety show, A.S.A.P. Dubbed “the biggest jamming affair of the year,” The Sessionistas in One Kapamilya Go! sa Canada, composed of Soul Siren Nina, Acoustic Wonder Juris of MYMP, R&B Master Duncan Ramos, Big Band Crooner Richard Poon, Bossa Nova Diva Sitti Navarro, and Asian Acoustic Sensation Aiza Seguerra, thrilled the crowd with their wonderful voices that highlight the wealth of musical talents the Philippines has to offer.
Avid fans and newly converted supporters of The Sessionistas had the time of their lives as their idols, in full force, performed their favourite songs of various genres –- from R&B to acoustic, bossa nova to soul, as well as pop to ballad.
According to ABS-CBN Canada Country Manager Marco Amoranto, “We at TFC want to ensure that all those who will attend One Kapamilya Go! sa Canada will be impressed with the quality of entertainment they will see and will go through an exceptional experience that befits the celebration of our third anniversary.”
True to its commitment, TFC made sure that the venue and the timing were perfect. The two major cities were specifically chosen in order for most TFC subscribers from East and West of Canada will be able to attend. The event was also timely held in June to commemorate Philippine Independence. “We want this to be a win-win event for our subscribers, supporters and partners,” Amoranto added.
In its very Pinoy style of organizing fiestas, One Kapamilya Go! sa Canada featured other activities to make the event worth the trip. There were food and merchandise booths conveniently located inside the venue, exciting games that added to the fun and excitement and fabulous prizes given away by major sponsors.
A day before the festive occasion, a Sponsors’ Night was held at Vaughan Estate Main Ballroom of The Estate of Sunnybrook in honor of TFC’s valuable partners. After seeing the results of One Kapamilya Go! sa Canada, the sponsors were more than pleased that TFC delivered on its promises exceptionally well.
“We attribute the success of OK Go to all of our sponsors and to all of our Kapamilyas here in Canada who have given us a warm welcome three years ago and continue to support us in our endeavors,” said ABS-CBN Canada Sales and Marketing Officer Mario Marasigan.
With a celebration as merry as this, one can already anticipate another sequel. Watch out where TFC takes the thriving caravan next.
