One of the biggest summer fun in Calgary is the Chinatown Street Festival. It was held on August 14, 2010 in the heart of Chinatown. An estimated 50,000 people attended this great event which gave a full day of joy, excitement and a unique cultural experience.
The Chinatown community has featured arts, unique shopping and dining experience during the festival. Several authentic Chinese foods were available along the streets. Mah-Jong and Chinese Chess games were played on the street and it was open to anyone who is interested to join. There were also fortune-telling, martial arts exhibitions, Chinese fine arts exhibit and the Kids’ Play Zone which offered many activities for kids to enjoy. Hence, Chinatown Street Festival is called “a festival for all ages’.
The Main Stage had several variety shows of Chinese Opera, singing, folk dancing, magic shows, live bands and the popular Lion Dance.
