Publisher's Note
Dear readers, The summer is going fast as everyone is having fun especially that we just wrapped up the festivities of the 10 days Calgary Stampede. The weather cooperated in a way where it showered during the parade but it all went well. I’m sure that the organizers of Calgary Stampede were all happy with an [...]

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR PINOY TIMES READERS AND TO THE ENTIRE FILIPINO COMMUNITY!
What does New Year bring us here in Calgary and the entire Alberta Province? I would say we have to be thankful for our daily existence and for all the blessings we have been receiving from day to day. It is always a struggle to get from point A to point B but with hardwork, perserverance and determination, we will all be successful in our own right.
We would like to welcome to our PINOY TIMES family, Steve Tarzwell, a writer from another publication who has decided to explore his writing skills by joining our crew of writers. We are deeply honoured to have you as part of our very dedicated pool of writers. Steve will have a regular column called “THE OTHER SIDE.”
I would like to thank all the volunteers of PINOY TIMES for the past 2 years from the writers, photographers, consultant, graphic designers, lay-out artists, website administrator and website encoder for doing a great job in keeping up with our mission to excel in our community service to the Filipino community.
The same goes with our ever growing friends in the business, especially our advertisers who have been there to support our publication. As I have always said and reiterated so many times, that without the advertisers, we won’t be able to keep up with our circulation and our website costs. We will always try our best to be an excellent marketing vehicle for our advertisers thru integrity and honesty with our service.
On the other hand, it is a sad note that we have lost a fellow Filipino on January 4th, Joel Zalsos, whose story has been all over the news since his untimely death. His brother from Iligan City, Gil Uy Zalsos, has sent us an open letter of appeal for moral and financial support. All of us here in Calgary will definitely want justice for Joel’s fate. In this kind of situation, only the culprit knows that he is being watched and time will come and the truth will prevail and justice will be served.
Let us all work for a better tomorrow and look forward to be united in the Filipino community and nothing can divide us especially in our difficult times.
I wish you all the best in 2011 and MABUHAY ANG PINOY!
