Angel says she trusts Phil

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Angel Locsin bared the status of her relationship with Azkals heartthrob Phil Younghusband.

In an interview during the opening of Mark Nicdao’s photo exhibit over the weekend, Locsin said that she and Younghusband are in the stage of “getting to know each other.”

“We are friends and siguro nasa ‘getting to know’ stage pa. But it’s too soon to answer actually,” Locsin said.

The actress also admitted that she went out with Younghusband and other friends and even described the football player as a “gentleman.”

“He’s very nice, gentleman and patient, alam mo ‘yon,” she said.

The actress also cleared the issue that Younghusband already introduced her to his parents.

“No, no hindi pa. Napag-uusapan namin ang family pero hindi pa nai-introduce. Walang ganoon,” she said.

She also believes Younghusband when he said that he was not joking when he invited her to go out on a date via Twitter.

Report has it that Younghusband is just using Locsin to have a second shot at showbiz. There is also a report that the player’s invitation to the actress was a bet between him and his teammates.

“Sa akin kasi ayaw ko ng sumagot ng issues na, alam mo ‘yon, hindi ko naman alam kung paano sagutin. Sabi naman niya hindi. Nag-explain naman siya. Ako ay nasa industriya na maraming ginagawang mga kwento. Kahit nasasaktan ako, kapag may imbentong tungkol sa akin, masakit nga naman. So bibigyan ko siya ng tiwala para dito. Kung ano ang sinabi, ‘yun ang papaniwalaan ko. Kasi siya ang sangkot talaga dito, hindi ‘yung gawa-gawa ng mga tao lang,” she said.

Defends Angelica

In the interview, Locsin also defended actress Angelica Panganiban who was criticized for voicing her opinion that it would be better if Younghusband would just devote his time to football.

“Ako, I understand Angelica because I know that she’s a big fan of football talaga. Siguro wala din ako sa posisyon para mag-comment, pero I understand her. Mabait naman si Angelica eh. Siguro nami-misinterpret lang ng tao,” she said.

Last Thursday, Panganiban voiced out her “sadness” upon learning that Younghusband is set to appear in an independent film.

In a separate interview, Younghusband said that Panganiban must have misinterpreted the report that he is doing an independent film.

Younghusband clarified that his role in the upcoming movie is his way to promote football.

Locsin appealed to Panganiban’s detractors to stop the tirades against the latter for the sake of the Azkals.

“Sana wala na itong ganitong issue kasi kung gusto talaga nating suportahan ito, first time na may representative ang Philippines sa World Cup, ‘di ba? See, if ever sana ay wala na ding stressful issues na makaka-distract sa goal nila,” she said.

On Luis

Locsin, who’s been very busy with a lot of showbiz projects, also reacted to reports saying that she and former boyfriend Luis Manzano are back in each other’s arms.

In the interview, Locsin stressed that she and Manzano are just good friends.

“Okay, okay naman. Minsan nagte-text once in a while. We are good friends naman kaya sana huwag ng bigyan ng intriga, ganoon,” she said.

Last week, Manzano admitted that he and Locsin are friends again.

“We are friends definitely,” he said.

But when asked to define their friendship right now, the actor just gave a mysterious smile.

“Whatever that smile means to you or to the viewers, hayaan na natin ‘yon,” he said

Lovi Poe on Singson: It’s time to move on

MANILA, Philippines – After a Hong Kong court sentenced Congressman Ronald Singson to 18 months in prison for illegal drug possession, his rumored girlfriend Lovi Poe said that it’s now the time for her to move on.

Singson had earlier pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.

“I don’t want to talk about it anymore because now, it’s time to move forward and be positive. Embrace the things that I have right now. Be positive. I don’t want to dwell on the bad things,” Poe said during the opening of the photo exhibit of Mark Nicdao dubbed “Vantage” last weekend.

The actress said she will be focusing on her work as an actress.

“I’m not using it (my heart) for a while. I’ll just be working a lot,” she said.

Asked if she can keep the relationship she has with Singson, she replied: “I can’t say anything. I just wanna go on with the flow, do my job and make sure that I won’t step on other people.”

Poe said she’s in good health and happy for all the blessings she gets.

Last week, House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte, Jr. stopped the expulsion proceedings against Singson after he received via electronic mail a copy of the latter’s resignation letter.

Singson said that he is resigning as a promise to his father, Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson.

Not welcome

In the interview, Poe also reacted to news that the congressman’s family is against her.

One report said Governor Singson is the only one who talks to her.

Poe stressed that there’s no truth to the said report, and she just doesn’t want to talk about it out of respect for the Singson family.

“Nope. I don’t want to talk about it anymore because there are a lot of people involved. I don’t want to drag them into this… Hindi sila showbiz na tao. Respeto ko na lang ‘yon na hindi sila pag-usapan in public,” Poe said.
Maria Aragon performs duet with Lady Gaga

MANILA, Philippines – YouTube singing sensation Maria Aragon’s dream came true when she performed a duet with her idol Lady Gaga at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada Thursday night (Friday morning in Manila).

Videos of the concert showed the 10-year-old Aragon sitting on Lady Gaga’s lap while singing the hit song “Born This Way.”

After the performance, Lady Gaga kissed Aragon as she turned emotional listening to Aragon’s words.

Aragon expressed her appreciation to Gaga for giving her the chance to perform with her.

“I wanted to say I’m just really grateful for you, for all of you, for all the support. I am actually from Winnipeg and I came over, I was invited,” Aragon said.

Gaga responded by saying she was touched by Aragon and that she’s also happy to meet the girl.

“Thank you for being here tonight, it’s such a beautiful night,” Gaga said.

Aragon shot to Internet celebrity status after her YouTube video of Gaga’s song caught the pop superstar’s attention.

Gaga posted Aragon’s video on her official Twitter account and described the young Fil-Canadian as “the future.”

Aragon’s YouTube video has been viewed at least 17 million times.

She also thanked Aragon for giving her song “a life.”

In their conversation over the phone last February 18, Gaga invited Aragon to sing with her on stage at her concert.

Aragon has appeared in the hit US talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Good Morning America.”

Aragon arrived in Toronto early this week for Gaga’s concert, which is part of Lady Gaga’s 2011 Monster Ball Tour.

The 10-year-old singer was accompanied by her parents, sister and brother Rojuane, who posted Aragon’s videos on YouTube.
