It was 22 years ago when I arrived in Canada and chose Calgary, Alberta to be my home. Leaving my family and friends behind, it was a new adventure for me to be in a new country without knowing anyone. That was the time I looked for a Filipino community paper and never found any, [...]

Supplements 101
Building muscles and losing weight can get pretty expensive. There are so many different types of supplements on the shelves that it can get very costly. If you’re on a tight budget, but still want to see results – try only these three products for maximum effectiveness:
25% increase in muscle size that one study experienced after consuming Whey Protein pre-and post-workout for 14 weeks
1. WHEY PROTEIN
This is probably the single most important supplement I would recommend. Research has shown that whey protein helps boost hypertrophy BIG time, especially when consumed around your workouts. Taking whey before your workouts helps deliver more oxygen, nutrients and anabolic hormones to your muscles. It also contains peptides that increase blood flow to your muscles – which provide you with more energy during workouts, an enhanced muscle pump, and better muscle recovery and growth after training.
10% lbs. of lean mass is what subjects gained after taking creatine for as little as four weeks.
2. CREATINE
Taking creatine before and during your workouts helps your muscles continually produce the rapid energy they need to perform rep after rep in the gym. The excess energy is responsible for the extra strength and endurance. Creatine also draws water into the muscles which stretches them, thereby increasing the size of the muscle – forcing them to grow.
2 lbs of muscle gained and pounds of fat lost by endurance athletes supplementing with N.O. Boosters for four weeks.
3. NO-BOOSTERS
Nitric oxide (NO) is a molecule that is found throughout the body that’s involved in the dilation of blood vessels, which increases blood flow to your muscles to deliver more oxygen, glucose fat and amino acids. Basically – better energy production to train longer and harder. The more intense the workout – the bigger muscle pump you’ll get during training. The pump stretches the membranes of the muscle cells and forces them to grow. NO has also been found to enhance lipolysis, the release of fat from cells.
