MANILA, Philippines – It’s time for Willie Revillame to go.
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, made this statement on Saturday via microblogging site Twitter following the television host’s tirade against his critics on the “Jan-Jan” issue.
He called Revillame an “unrepentant, arrogant and incorrigible” television host.
“Willing Willie,” Revillame’s variety show on TV5, goes off the air for two weeks starting Monday after drawing heavy criticism from viewers and celebrities, and following the pullout of major advertisers.
On Friday night, the beleaguered TV host lashed at some of his fellow entertainers for posting negative comments about him on the web, mainly through Twitter.
He particularly accused Jim Paredes, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Bianca Gonzalez, Tuesday Vargas, Aiza Seguerra and Lea Salonga of “prejudging” him, and is considering to file libel cases against them.
“We belong to the same industry. Instead of passing judgment prematurely, you should be helping me help other people,” Revillame said in Filipino, as reported by the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Sunday.
“You’ve destroyed my person. Are you helping the poor? You should first look in the mirror and ask yourself this question. What good have you done for your country?,” he added.
Aware that he may soon be included in Revillame’s list for his tweet, Pangilinan quipped: “Sue me, too.”
Revillame and TV5 drew flak from various sectors after a 6-year-old tearfully performed a lewd dance during the March 12 episode of “Willing Willie” in exchange for P10,000.
The incident has also prompted government agencies to conduct and investigation.
