Take advantage of learning opportunities across Alberta

Edmonton… Alberta joins other provinces and territories across Canada to celebrate International Adult Learners’ Week from March 24 – April 1. This year’s theme is: I’m still learning.

International Adult Learners’ Week celebrates the achievements of adult learners and encourages adults to continue learning throughout their lives as a way to develop the skills they need to achieve their goals.

Across Alberta, community learning organizations, post-secondary institutions, libraries and other groups are promoting adult learning through seminars, workshops, learner readings and stories and other events. For details on the events taking place in your community, visit the Alberta Government’s International Adult Learners’ Week webpage atwww.aet.alberta.ca/learnersweek.

The Government of Alberta recognizes the importance of lifelong learning and provides funding that supports a wide variety of learning providers throughout the province. Thanks to this funding, adult learners are able to access and participate in learning opportunities in their own communities to develop the knowledge and skills they need for success. Through continued learning, adults are able to realize their full potential and contribute to their families, their communities and to the success of our province.

International Adult Learners’ Week is an international initiative co-ordinated by the Canadian Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). For more information, visithttp://www.unesco.ca/en/activity/education/AdultLearners.aspx.
