A moment to treasure,
a moment to look forward to…. each & every year
by: Tata “Tatsky” Gascon-Delos Reyes
Congratulations to the success of Kasayahan Performing Arts Foundation’s 15th Anniversary and annual presentation held last June 16, 2012 at the St. Vladimir’s Cultural Centre. The list of local talents lined up seemed to have grown over the years and these young Filipino-Canadians are as always full of energy.
This year’s theme on “Sariling Atin” is always the favorite. The children boasted their thirst for performing our own cultural dances. From the Spanish-inspired Maria Clara outfits to the Mountain Province’s Ifugao costumes, all the folk dances presented were always the ones that gets the most cheers from the viewing public. The colorful dresses of the “tinikling” and “sayaw sa bangko” performers added glow to the smiles of the audience who gathered up that night to witness the hard work these children did over the 10 months of preparation and practices. Together with the performers, I salute the parents’ never-ending support of their children.
We can’t wait for Kasayahan 2013….. see you again!
