HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY THREE KINGS! As we are now in 2019, new year, new beginnings, new challenges and new opportunities. Everyone is entitled to make their new year’s resolution for as long as they keep it in mind and make sure that they do it to the best of their ability. When I was young [...]

How time flies that our publication, PINOY TIMES is now on it’s 4th year since it started in 2008. We would like to thank our advertisers for continously supporting our Filipino community paper for the past 48 months. Without our advertisers, we won’t be here to serve the community. A big THANK YOU also goes to our volunteers who have always been there helping me to come out with our issue every month by writing informative articles for our readers. We would also like to inform our readers that our sister publication, PINOYLIVING TODAY, the very first Filipino lifestyle magazine has marked it’s full year with it’s summer issue of which Ms. Riza Santos has gracefully accepted our offer to put her on the cover of PLT. Thank you Ms. Riza Santos and also to our photographers, Lambert Rellosa and Jv Rivera.
Recently, I’ve attended two mainstream concerts of Neil Diamond, who by the way is now 71 years old but still keeps up with his moves as a performer. I’ve always love watching Neil Diamond because I like the way he acknolwedges his mother everytime during his performances. He also made mentioned that after being single for 17 years, he’s finally tied the knot for the second time. Another mainstream concert I went to is Il Divo, a quartet of good looking men who came from different parts of the world but made them united as one with their love for music. They sing mostly, Spanish, Italian and English love songs. One of their cuts in the CD that I love to listen to is entitled Mama, a song they dedicate to their mothers. Yes, indeed music is life itself and Il Divo is a group to watch for and should never be missed on their next performance here in Calgary.
It’s been a month of concerts not just in the mainstream but also in the Filipino entertainment scene. Aegis, a very popular band was here for a number of shows in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. Aside from that, BAMBOO was also doing his Canadian Tour and did not miss to hit Edmonton as part of his concert tour. Indeed that Filipinos were really thrilled to have witness these concerts of this month. The next one to watch for is UNKABOGABLES on Sept 7,2012 in Edmonton.
Summer is always an enjoyable month for everyone as we can do mostly outdoor activities because of the nice weather. We hope that this kind of weather will stay around for the next months or so. If you have not done anything yet, don’t forget to browse Alberta Travel to check out which places you would like to visit during the summer.
We would also like to thank everyone who came out during our 4th Anniversary Potluck Picnic on July 28th. We hope to see you again for a bigger celebration next year!
