Visitors to Pinoytimes

With the beautiful weather arriving and for the most part, the rain ending, summer is in full swing in Calgary. Already several festivals and events have taken place and if you missed them – don’t worry – there is a lot more to come!
What a great time we had with the Calgary Stampede and Fireworks shows, and then we joined our readers, sponsors and supporters in celebrating Pinoy Times’ 4th Anniversary. Perfect weather allowed everyone to enjoy great food, great friends and some even took home some awesome prizes! Next on the schedule is GlobalFest and as a sponsor, Pinoy Times is much involved. Be sure to get to at least one night of the Cultural Pavilions as well as the Fireworks.
Between public events my wife and I had a blast camping and several hikes in the Canmore area. We entertained Ludy’s brother and family from Winnipeg as well as hosted some good friends from the USA. This weekend after getting rejuvenated at the Ebenezer International Christian Fellowship Family Camp near Didsbury, we welcomed Wakana our Japanese student who is here for the month of August. We took her to the Strathmore Stampede and highly recommend the small town Rodeos! The prices are more reasonable and the viewing area is better.
Ludy attend her brother’s wedding in California this month. I will stay home with Kitty and keep our student occupied. When Ludy returns we will check out the Calgary Corn Maze and the Chinook Honey Company on their Annual event on August 25. With a few more mountain hikes planned and then a 10 day B.C. trip, we will rest and prepare for winter!
Many of these activities this summer we have purposely planned as being economical which allows us to do more. There is an abundance of parks and free events in Calgary and I encourage you to check them out. Find some active friends, they are good influences. I suggest you unplug the T.V. for a couple of months and you can benefit from Calgary’s late sunset. Tell your employer that 40 hours/week is enough and get out and partake of God’s beautiful gifts! You’ll be glad you did!
