COMPOSTELA VALLEY, Philippines – Storm survivors in New Bataan, Compostela Valley are in dire need of relief supplies. The situation is so bad that some of them have made the streets their home, where it is easy for them to beg for food from passersby. The way to the center of New Bataan in Compostela Valley is full of children begging and people holding signs asking for any kind of donation whether it be food, water or medicine. One survivor said they are so hungry and they have yet to receive help. Even if they are not from New Bataan, they hope they will also be given relief supplies as they are also suffering after Pablo’s onslaught. Meantime, more relief supplies arrive at the center of new bataan. One boy from Davao City has decided not to celebrate his birthday and instead help those who survived the typhoon. New Bataan Mayor Lorenzo Balbin Jr. thanked those who sent aid for his constituents. More volunteers are needed to help repack relief supplies and bring these to those in need. More supplies arriving, Palace says More supplies, including drinking water, has arrived in typhoon-hit areas, a Palace official said Saturday. “As to the water supply, dumating na po kahapon ‘yung mga teams ng MMDA with the water filtration systems dahil naitimbre na po sa atin na kailangan nila, (na) meron nga pong need,” deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigal Valte said on Radyo ng Bayan. “(‘Yung) sa Cagayan de Oro po kasi, binaha po ulit ‘yung mga pumping stations po yata nila. Until such time that those are up and running, kailangan po nila ng support for clean drinking water so dumating na po ‘yung mga water filtration systems po natin doon,” she said. She added that President Benigno Aquino has ordered national and local officials to release all needed relief goods for typhoon victims. “Ang directive po ni President Aquino kahapon doon sa mga local officials natin at saka sa mga national government officials is to provide what is necessary doon po, doon sa rescue, sa relief and other assistance na kailangan po doon sa mga area (na) ‘yon,” she said. – with ANC COMMENTS FROM C.K. – EDITOR, PINOY TIMES As everyone knows that PINOY TIMES is very proactive when it comes to disasters like this, we would like to call on everyone’s help this holiday season to share your blessings to our poor brothers and sisters back home.
