Golden Generations, one of the well established Filipino Seniors organization here in Calgary held their 2012 Seniors Prom and Christmas Party last December 21, 2012 at the Marlborough Park Community Hall. It was indeed an evening of camaraderie among the seniors who had their big smile on their beautiful and handsome faces. The dinner buffet was fabulous and everyone enjoyed the food that was served that evening.
It was an evening of birthday celebrations for the months of October, November and December 2012. So all the birthday celebrants received their birthday gift that night. There were songs and dance numbers rendered by the seniors and it was such a delight to witness their camaraderie. Among the popular faces that evening was Tigs Tidalgo, Atty Richard Tumanon, Joven Bautista, and many more.
Golden Generations has a facebook account and from their page, I found their mission statement:
Aging does not occur in the later part of our lives, it begins the moment we are born. It is a natural process of life. Strangely enough, teenagers, at one point in their lives, wanted to grow up fast to be “cool”. There are also some individuals who live under the illusion that they and their loved ones will never become old. When old age arrives, most of us are often unprepared. The natural order becomes reversed. The young help to care for the old. Those who need to be taken care of for the first time have a hard time accepting that they need help. This condition is a product of our culture that does everything it can to conceal the loss of youth. To confront this reality, there is a need to enjoy every moment of our lives when we reach the golden age. This is the mission of the Golden Generation Seniors Club, to help facilitate the enhancement of the quality of our lives, as a group, as we move along through our golden years.
From the President: Mr. Ben Isidro
We would like to congratulate Mr. Ben Isidro, the president and the rest of the other officers of Golden Generations for putting up this wonderful celebration to mark the Holiday Season for 2012!
