Hhhhmmmm…….is Spring here yet?  Well, not quite but soon I suppose.  Now if the shortest month of the year, February and each and everyone of us has some plan to spend Valentines’ day with our loved ones.  I remember during my younger days, especially the teenage years, that Valentines’ day is a big day for sweethearts, couples and puppy love.  But now I realized that it’s more of a day to celebrate and express our love not just for significant others but for our loved ones especially our family and friends.  Although Valentines’ is always tied up with cupid, I think it is still in general spreading love around us.  For me, my hubby is my dear Valentine but I also have another special Valentine celebration with my aunt who’s 81 years old and is suffering from an early onset of Dementia.  It was sad for me to realized how hard it is when a loved one starts to suffer from a disease that has no cure.  This Valentines’ day, I’m taking her home to the Philippines, where she has 3 siblings who are there to make her feel that she’s always been loved.  With her having no family in New York, lived independently for over 60 years in New York, it’s time for her to go back home.  For me, I will spend Valentines’ day on board Philippine Airlines to put my aunt in a home care facility in Manila to be close with family.  Her short term memory is not good anymore but I hope that she will still recognize her siblings and nephews and nieces for sometime because she completely lose it.  Love is not just for significant others, love is to everyone who is dear to our hearts.  Make your loved ones feel how much you love and care for them while you can for you’ll never know what tomorrow brings.
