MANILA, Philippines — Sharon Cuneta has no problem being a replacement for Sarah Geronimo in “The Voice Kids Philippines.”
After making a move from TV5, Sharon signed a two-year network contract with the Kapamilya network, and was officially announced as the newest coach of the show on Thursday.
“I love Sarah! It should not be a problem,” she replied when asked being a replacement coach. “First of all, it happens in the business every once in a while, that a good artist decides to do other projects and then somebody has to take her place.”
Sarah earlier said she wanted to focus on Sunday noontime show “ASAP” and improve on her vocal skills.
“In this case, I don’t think kung sinu-sino lang si Sarah,” she added. “The mere fact na umalis ‘yong bata hindi ibig sabihin na parang panakip butas lang. Hindi kukuha ang staff at bosses ng ‘The Voice Kids’ ng kung sino lang.”
She also believes that Sarah is making the right choice of pursuing what she has always wanted.
“The girl should be allowed to pursue the interests that she likes,” she said. “She has worked hard for the people she loves and as well as her personal happiness. So I’m very happy for Sarah.”
Instead, she feels honored of being considered in discovering new and young talents.
“I’m honored that I’ll be alongside Lea and Bamboo,” she said. “I feel blessed to be part of the show. I’m excited to see all the talents that are going to come out.”
Aside from “The Voice Kids Philippines,” she will star in a film that will start shooting this August.
