It was indeed a big privilege for PINOY TIMES to be invited as media for this one of a lifetime event from TFC. From the press conference to the concert, it was star studded. The Barclay Center is one of the biggest event center in New York and it filled up with almost 9,000 Filipinos from different parts of the US and Canada.
With over 50 artists straight from the Philippines and the US together with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Salonga, it was indeed a huge production. ASAP being one of the longest running variety program in the ABS-CBN network for over 20 years and the first time to hold a concert in North America and of all places, in the big apple, New York. It also coincided with MMK’s 25th Anniversary and it was none other than Ms. Charo Santos who was present at the said event.
“ASAP Live in New York” featured performances from Kapamilya love teams Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla and Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador, Gerald Anderson, Maja Salvador, Kim Chiu, Billy Crawford, Piolo Pascual, Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Jolina Magdangal, Luis Manzano and Coco Martin of Ang Probinsyano together with Onyok were also there to entertain Kapamilyas in the US. The evening will not be complete with the performance of none other than Unkabogable, Vice Ganda. The G-Force dancers of teacher Georcelle definitely did an excellent job to add to the entertainment.
Filipinos all over the world can also be proud of the success stories of New York-based Filipino Americans featured in the “Love Songs and Stories” (LSS) segments: teacher Conchita Singson, nanny Amor Villasin, the late Ma. Teresa Santillan, Mark Bustos, Nicole Adrienne Ponseca and Jhett Tolentino.
“ASAP Live in New York was a dream and realizing it didn’t happen overnight,” said ABS-CBN Global Events Business Unit Head Ricky Resurreccion. “It is a huge testament to the unswerving commitment of our company leaders, the ASAP team and TFC in North America that we all came together to do this for the Filipinos overseas. It is our honor to have made Filipino event history in New York with our beloved Kapamilya, and their tremendous support inspires us to continue providing them with meaningful and memorable live entertainment experience.”
And one of the highlights of the concert is the appearance of none other than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach who was as elegant as she walked on the stage and to coincide with the event was an advance celebration of her birthday. She was given a birthday cake and everyone in the audience sang the birthday song for her as she makes her wish and blew the candle.
We would like to congratulate everyone in the TFC North America production who made this event possible and of course ABS-CBN who made this huge gathering of stars possible and successful. see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php
