Good day to all our readers!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with their families and friends.  Back home 20 years ago, I never remembered celebrating Thanksgiving.  Turkey dinner was not a tradition but instead we have our very own lechon manok, which is just equivalent of something more affordable than turkey.  But I’m just talking of my own experience as a Filipino.  I know that those in the upper classes must have experience Turkey dinner just like when I worked for a German company back home and my manager is a German national.  I remember one Christmas when I got my gift from him and it was a butterball turkey.  That was the first time in my life that I saw a turkey, much bigger than a chicken.  Then the questions was how am I going to cook this big bird?  So not having an oven at home,  me and my friend decided to do a rotiserrie made out of bamboo to put the big bird and with the use of rocks as stand we put the rotiserrie under charcoal to make it lechon turkey.  It tooks hours to cook the big bird but it turned out good and very much different from an ordinary lechon manok.  That was the first and last lechon turkey I had back home.  So moving to Canada, I was surprised to find out that turkey is common in every household during special ocassions. So to all our readers, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

What do we have to be thankful for?  For every things we have in life, whether big or small, for every problem in life that we have overcome and we continue to be strong as ever, for the roof we have on top of our head, for the food we have on our table every day, for the good health and safety of our families and most of all for all the blessings that He has given us.  Living on earth is a bonus, not everyone is given the same opportunities in life.  We should treasure every moment we breath because we will never know when we will stop. Live in the moment and live your life to the fullest no matter what obstacles come your way.

It is sad to know that passing of Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.  But now there’s no more pain and she’s finally reunited with her son who she lost 12 years ago. Things happen for a reason and if her passing put her to rest, the Philippines has been so lucky to have someone like her, ASIA’S IRON LADY.  She will never be forgotten for all her wit and most especially her one liners from her book.  She was one of the best among the rest.  But she’s now with the Lord and I’m sure she’s celebrating her reunion with her son up in heaven.

Until next issue, enjoy each day and be thankful to the Lord!
