Dear readers,
Last February it was the month of Love and trues enough that was the month when I received that last Valentines card from my husband. I did not know that even in his hospital bed he asked his youngest daughter to get me a card and a box of chocolates to make me feel how much he loved and cared for me. But now, no more cards or flowers on special occasions will come from him. By the time you read this note, my husband is now my angel. I lost him after 15 years of living with Parkinson’s disease. I’m living and still grieving for the lost of my loving husband. Being together for 20 years, I don’t know how I can overcome my grief when all you can remember are all the beautiful memories we share together. As they say when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Remember when I said last month -you tell people you love how much you love them every second, every minute of the day for you’ll never know what tomorrow will bring. But as they say life must go on and we have to continue living not just for ourselves but for everyone we loved and who loves us. I’m glad that my children and my grandchildren are just around and they give me comfort and joy during the most difficult time of my life.
Spring will soon just be around the corner. We just have our time changed an hour ahead and we will be expecting better weather now that spring will soon be in the air. Time to start our gardening plans, which I will have to learn now that my husband who is a garden enthusiast is now longer around. I remember convincing him to downsize like to live in a townhouse but he wouldn’t give up on his garden. Most of our friends are going to miss him for his knowledge in taking care of the garden and his extensive knowledge of what, where and when to plant different variety of perennials. I remember the days when he starts planting tomatoes from seed and he would invade our kitchen table to start the tomato plants. And he is very generous giving out the tomato plants as soon as they can be transplanted either in bigger pots or in the ground. Don’t miss out in the spring, it’s time to plant and later on smell the flowers. You can go to the library and borrow books on gardening tips so you can gain some know how on planting in your garden because when the flowers bloom it adds color not just to your surrounding but also to your life.
I want to share some thing that I read from Gilbert Teodoro:
“Today is a gift. Be grateful for all that life offers. Be verbal in appreciating people who enrich and energize you. By the simple act of verbally saying thank you, you not only let the blessings flow through you, you allow appreciation to overflow into blessings for all around you. Bring out that warm-glow feeling to open your heart. For an open heart attracts more positive vibes, more beautiful relationships, more peace of mind, and best of all – more of God.”
Until next issue, God bless us all!
