Red Deer Report
By Prodie Gar. Padios
It is unbelievable but the power of her “magic touch” is truly amazing.
This author can attest, and he can prove it by stating that the numbness of his right hand and backache he suffered for almost a year were vanished like nightmare, when that said magic touch applied on him.
That magic touch is referred to Ms. Ratana Ritthaisong, a typical Thai who migrated with her Mom from Thailand to Canada when she was still 12 years old, more than ten years ago.
At her young age, she possesses astounding attributes with a very special talent and “Midas touch” to help cure and energize people who have problems in their own health.
The secret of her magic touch is through Thai Massage.According to Ratana while she applied her magic touch to this author, Thai Massage is an ancient art of body therapy for healing, health and transformation.
The massage session was performed on a floor mat with this recipient (the author) dressed in comfortable loose clothing, in a secluded room, with a quietly meditative atmosphere.
Ratana explained that Thai Massage is an interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching and pressure along energy lines.
She said that these movements help to adjust the skeletal structure, increase flexibility, relieve muscular and joint tension, stimulate internal organs, and balance the body’s energy system.
Based at www.thai-massage.org/basics.html, it was believed that the Traditional Thai Massage was introduced to Thailand over 2500 years ago by Shivago Komarpaj (Jivaka Kumarabhacca), who was a contemporary of Gautama Buddha.
Buddhism was born in India where the monks at that time had a vast knowledge of medical care and were experienced herbalists as well.
When the religion spread to the other parts of Asia, the monks also took their medical practices with them as part of the religions growth. This formed the roots of Thai Massage.
This Traditional Thai Massage has the recipient in yoga-like positions during the course of the massage to aid its therapeutic effects.
“We, Thai Massage Practitioner, are the ones to apply yoga to the patients,” Ratana said. “We are doing this without putting forth any effort while you, the recipient, also getting acupressure treatments.”
During the very first massage session, Ratana, an arduous Thai Masseuse, used two primary procedures: applied gentle pressure with the hands, elbow and feet, and a wide variety of passive stretching movements. With these techniques, Ratana explained, space is created in the musco-skeletal structure, the body begins to open and regain flexibility and ease of movement, while the mind gently returns to calm alertness. Tension and toxic material are released from the joints, muscles, and connective tissue. The energy body, as well as the internal organs, are stimulated by pressure on peripheral reflex points.
Ratana expertly explained that Thai massage techniques can be used on many parts of body such as the thumbs, elbows, palms, forearms, feet, and knees. Rocking, rhythmic muscle compression, assisted yoga positions and stretching are also included in the process. Ratana also explained that Thai Massage is quite different from what most western people perceive as massage. The main difference is that it is practiced fully clothed on a floor mat.
“During the early years of Thai Massage, oils or lotions are not necessary before,” Ratana explained further. “But today, I use oils or lotions to help ease and energize the recipients easily and effectively…”
Ratana also said that the intention of Traditional Thai Massage is to guide the body, mind, and spirit into balance and harmony, providing an opportunity for self-healing.She reiterated that this ancient therapy is beneficial for young or old, active or inactive, healthy or not so healthy.
Ratana introduced to this author two of her “patients,” Marvin and Joyce, a well-known couple in Downtown, Red Deer. According to Ratana, Joyce was sickly, especially, she was suffering from pinched-nerve in her lower spine and her right tight was numbed. When she was introduced to her by one of her patients, Joyce were advised by her doctor to undergo surgery.
Marvin is older ten years than Joyce, and was suffering arthritis, and a little bit Asthenia or enervated.
Ratana explained to the couple the significance of Thai Massage, especially for them that their ages are no longer young. Gradually, Ratana applied her magic touch to the couple.
“During our first couples of session, they struggled, they were almost in agony, especially when I applied on them the yoga-typed of treatment,” Ratana said.
“Now, I am absolutely okay, and never undergo surgery,” Joyce confessed.
In Marvin’s part, he’s now unequivocally better, healthier and regained his flexibility. “Thanks to Thai Massage, and the magic touch of Ratana,” he aesthetically exclaimed.
Session typically last not less than one hour. As this author experienced, the effect was uniquely energizing and relaxing. Amazingly, after a couple of sessions, the numbness and backache he’d suffered were gone.
Ratana hypothetically figured it out: “It is because Thai Massage has something to do in removing the barricades in the veins that caused numbness. And when the blood circulates well, numbness of affected part, like your right hand, would gone…”
Absolutely, Ratana’s magic touch is miraculously and efficaciously very powerful.
