It was a private event and we, PINOY TIMES AND PINOY TIMES ON AIR 94.7 FM , were very much honored to be invited to join the rest of the community leaders and other dignitaries at a cocktail reception hosted by the Consul General and Madame Gilberto Asuque and the rest of the staff of the Philippine Consulate of Alberta and Saskatchewan. It was held at the McMurray Room of the Calgary Petroleum Club on June 12 from 6-9 pm. It also conincides with the 70th Anniversary of Philippine-Canada Diplomatic Relations.
The night was indeed a great celebration of our independence. The cocktail reception was consists of Filipino dishes including the popular Lechon (roasted pig). The dessert was consists of our popular halo-halo and different Filipino pastries such as cassava cake and the popular Ube/Pandan with young coconut filling cake. The foreign dignitaries were able to taste our Filipino foods and it was nice to see familiar faces night. We would like to thank all the staff of the Philippine Consulate office for all the hard work that they do to cater to the Filipinos in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
