It was 22 years ago when I arrived in Canada and chose Calgary, Alberta to be my home.  Leaving my family and friends behind, it was a new adventure for me to be in a new country without knowing anyone.  That was the time I looked for a Filipino community paper and never found any, [...]

PINOY TIMES’ 4TH ANNIVERSARY PICNIC

PINOY TIMES’ 4TH ANNIVERSARY PICNIC thumbnail

by:  Tata “Tatsky” Gascon-Delos Reyes

July 28th was marked in every Pinoy Times (PT) follower’s calendar as a special day.  The monthly publication, still going strong in its 4th year, held its annual anniversary picnic offering and for a day of fun and laughter under the sun, everybody was invited. Calgary’s Bowness Park, though under major reconstructive facelift, welcomed the guests in honoring and celebrating the success of Connie Kriaski’s publication. Indeed, every year is a milestone for Pinoy Times. The monthly newspaper, although local and exclusively geared to cater mostly the Filipino community, never ceases to capture the interest of the reading public. Connie’s loyal staff were present and all pitched in to make the event a successful gathering of “magkakababayans” (fellow countrymen) who believed and trusted the most well-read community newspaper in Calgary. PT’s supporters ranged from its contributors (writers, photographers, etc.), readers, and most especially its loyal advertisers. Some of them made it to the park to shake Connie’s hand and applaud her successful 4 years. Pinoy Times, dignified and respected, now move forward as it traverses its 5th year still with the same objective of delivering quality news, articles, write-ups, and features. Many thanks and appreciation goes to all who never fails to support Pinoy Times. Congratulations to Ms. Connie Kriaski and her volunteer staff. Hats off to you all!
