It was 22 years ago when I arrived in Canada and chose Calgary, Alberta to be my home.  Leaving my family and friends behind, it was a new adventure for me to be in a new country without knowing anyone.  That was the time I looked for a Filipino community paper and never found any, [...]

It was a night of the champions as three of the best of Philippines music industry’s talent search grand winners took center stage and rocked the world of the jam packed crowd at the Fantasyland Hotel ballroom last September 22. Jovit Baldivino (Pilipinas Got Talent Season 1 Champion), Marcelito Pomoy (Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 Winner), Yeng Constantino (Pinoy Dream Academy Grand Star Dreamer) staged a successful repeat concert of “Let’s Rock Canada” tour that brought them to different key cities all over the country.

Marcelito Pomoy, the gifted artist with a male tenor voice and a strikingly convincing female soprano voice, opened the show with his medley of OPM hits and his PGT winning piece “The Prayer” was a hit among the fans. His antics, wit and humor earned positive reactions from the audience.

Jovit Baldivino performed next. This dynamo of a performer is a classic example of the saying that big things come in little packages. He gamely engaged the highly pumped up audience and got them on their feet with his pop, rock and classical numbers.

The darling of the crowd that night, Yeng Constantino, charmed her fans and audience with some of her OPM hits “Hawak Kamay” and her most recent hit “Chinito”. The ASAP host, singer, songwriter and actress was wildly cheered and applauded by her followers.

Earlier that day, there was a meet and greet event organized by the production staff held at the Palabok House restaurant. Fans got their chance for a photo op and autograph signing from the three music idols.

It was really an amazing show that the trio put up that night, coupled by some equally talented front acts like Emma and Sharmaine Pagtakhan, the cute and charming ten year old girl Leah Gutlay, Bruno Mars’s sound-alike Jazer-Rod Montano, the acoustic duo of U and I Simplified and Calgarian Frances Marie Luceno. MCs for the night were Evelyn Lopez and Hermo Pagtakhan.

Great Smile Promotions headed by Dr. Nimrod Montano, in cooperation with TFC  produced and  brought  in these world class performers to Edmonton, Alberta.
