It was 22 years ago when I arrived in Canada and chose Calgary, Alberta to be my home.  Leaving my family and friends behind, it was a new adventure for me to be in a new country without knowing anyone.  That was the time I looked for a Filipino community paper and never found any, [...]

Top form at any age

Fitness is part of a healthy lifestyle. Take the first steps to a healthier you.

Many of us does not realize the importance of being active and engaging ourselves into physical activities. When it comes to physical activities, the more you do, the more you can do.

How can you enjoy life when you are restricted with chronic diseases? When are you going to see the world and travel for experience of a lifetime? How much time do we have left on earth for us to do things that we want to do? Who knows, right? But the mere fact that we have the option to change these things and turn it into a better, healthier life, the more we learn and educate ourselves to be the best version of us.

There are many easy, enjoyable ways to incorporate exercise into even the most sedentary lifestyle, and the benefits of doing so are enormous. I am no pro of health sciences but according to numerous studies that regular physical activities can significantly lower the risk of heart diseases and stroke. It can also prevent and control the risk factors for a variety of conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and certain types of cancer. More so, many of us are aging faster than we should due to poor diet and exercise habits. We are also getting sicker more often and for longer periods.

Traveling is my biggest passion  & lust. And I am pretty much aware of,  that for me to sustain this desire, I have to take good care of myself. This is what I want to share to people, to create awareness and take action. It’s not too late, it will never be.

Being a flight attendant is both a hard work and a lifestyle. Hard work that it is hard on your body caused by changing altitudes and crazy sleep patterns to name a few. And it is a lifestyle where you got to enjoy the luxury of time to do such thing like wandering around new places and the best time to find ways  to integrate exercise into our daily habits.

ways to keep your body in top form

  1. Ask your doctor. A professional opinion is a must so you are fully aware to the potential impact they could have on any pre-existing conditions when engaging yourself to your chosen physical activities.
  1. Set Goals. The objective is not to look in the mirror and see the person you were 10 years ago. You need to shoot for the moon and imagine the best person you can be right now. Mindset is key!

Commit. Consistency is essential for you to move forward towards to your goals. Make it realistic and achievable. If you say you’re going to exercise twice or three times a week, then it must be followed. The practice will become second nature, you may even look

3.   forward to it. Got hooked.

  1. Proper Diet, Rest, Sleep and Supplementation. Even if you eat the exact same diet as your friend, if you’re not getting the sleep your body needs, you won’t drop as much fat as them. Count the colors in your meals not calories. The greens and fruits in your plate, the better it is. Dietary supplements can help ensure that you get an adequate dietary intake of essential nutrients; others may help you reduce your risk of disease. Choose the best and the most potent one. You’re probably asking why the healthy foods are expensive, then do me a favor, ask yourself too why the junk foods are cheap!
  1. Follow you heart and Believe in yourself. Choose activities you enjoy the most. It could be marching on a treadmill or simply a walking. It could be ZUMBA or simply a YOGA. You can do it. Know that you can. Overtime the benefits of fitness will reveal themselves and you’ll enjoy discovering them. Physical activities may not be the cure for whatever it is, aging or diseases, but engaging in it will get you to the finish line in style.
