Dear Kababayans, I hope you are all doing well this April and are keeping safe and healthy during this trying time. Last month we saw businesses closing down and workers getting laid off because of the economic shutdown that was created by the Coronavirus Pandemic. This puts a lot of stress on people as bills just [...]

ASAP in Bay Area

ASAP in Bay Area thumbnail

TFC’s 25th year anniversary was celebrated with a big bang when they staged ASAP in Bay Area with over 50 artists together with all the production people from Manila and all the top executives of ABS-CBN from Manila including Ms. Charo Santos herself.  The theme for the 25th year anniverwsary of TFC IS #BeingFilipino.

Prior to the big event which was held at the SAP arena in San Jose, a press conference was held at the TFC office in Daly City.  Yours truly was present at the press con and most of the media are from California and there was also another one from Toronto and one who came from Hawaii.  The artists present were Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Piolo Pascual, Erik Santos and Kim Chu.  From the press con we found out that it was Martin Nievera was the one who came up with the name of the show ASAP which actually means ALL STARS AFTERNOON PARTY.  It;s pilot episode was in 1995 so it’s been on air for over 24 years and as Martin said he will be with ASAP for as long as it’s on air.   The ASAP NATIN ITO has changed format  over the years and more  love teams are now part of the show and new stars who mostly are winners from some contest or reality shows.   Like Kim Chu was  from PBB and she’s now a big name. She doesn’t sing but she’s a great actress and dancer just like Maja Salvador who’s a versatile actress, dancer and she also sings.  We had a chance to ask questions and after the press con, we  were given a photo opportunity with the artists.  The press con happened on August 1st from 5:30 to 7 pm.

On the big day of the event, August 3rd, people were not allowed to bring their bags and instead they had to buy a transparent bag from SAP before you enter the venue.  We were given notice on this so I did not bring any purse, just  my cellphone and some cash.  The venue holds 17,000 people and it was surprising that it was almost full even before the  show started.  We were not that close to the stage so    I apologize for the pictures that I’m sharing with you.  The two Ms. Universe, Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach were also there  and tried their hosting skills .  They also brought to the stage some Fil -Ams who have excelled in their talents even if they are not  living in the Philippines. They actually had 2 parts of the show and a 30 mins break in between .  Everyone enjoyed their favorite artists appearances, the music, the dances and all the repertoire that they did for the entire show.  It was indeed a very successful event.

Congratulations to TFC on their 25th year and more years to come and more power!!!
