Our 1st Year Anniversary

It is with pride that we are now entering our 2nd year of circulation as one of the Filipino community papers here in Calgary.  Our city is growing and everyday that passes by is always a day full of challenges in our lives.  That challenge came to me one evening when I watched the Men of the 80’s Concert at the MacEwan Hall at the University of Calgary.  While I was giving away a PINOY TIMES fridge magnet to one of the guys who will watch the concert, I was asked right away if this is the paper owned by (?).  A name that is very popular to the Filipino community is being linked to my publication.  This is one challenge that I would like to clarify to my readers.

This publication, PINOY TIMES, is solely owned and distributed by yours truly, CONNIE KRIASKI together with its volunteers, writers, photographers and contributors.  We are in no way circulating PINOY TIMES for the benefit of one individual, group, association or organization.  We have always catered to the Filipino community and everyone is free to send in their organization/association events, happenings or  activities for the benefit of the entire Filipino community here in Calgary.  We will always provide you with just the truth and nothing but the truth.  We decline to publish reports that  are pure hearsays/gossips or any form of rumor mongering. If it has something to do with personal issues between parties, please do not use PINOY TIMES as a channel to be bitter with one another.  Our mission is to keep the unity of all Filipinos here in Calgary  thru the print media.  Let us be fair to one another and treat each other with respect.  Let us give credit where credit is due.

I was shocked and surprised upon hearing that comment from this Filipino guy ( I forgot to asked his name), but I told him right away that the name of the publisher for this paper is CONNIE KRIASKI and no other name should be linked to me or to my publication.  And just to let people know that the funding for PINOY TIMES is solely coming from our advertisers. Without my advertisers, we cannot print our monthly publication.

As Abraham Lincoln said “for the people, by the people and of the people”; this is the same concept that I have in mind ever since I conceptualized my publication.  PINOY TIMES embraces the Filipino community and everyone is free to provides articles and contributions that do not denounce other individuals/organizations/associations.  Let us live in harmony and goodwill with one another.  Everyone is free to give our their comments and suggestions.

WE ARE HERE FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE TO PROMOTE UNITY AMONGST US FILIPINOS.   IIF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER CONCERNS, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT [email protected] or call me at (403) 9752120.
