FCSC CELEBRATES VALENTINE’S 2010

The Filipino Calgarian Seniors Club (FCSC) celebrated a joint Valentine’s and 1st Quarter Birthday Party on February 14, 2010 at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel.  Attended by 165 members and guests, the annual event was enjoyed by all present.   Highlight of the evening was the selection of Mrs. Valentine 2010.  Chosen by an independent board of judges, the lucky winners were: Mrs. Mary Bacus – Mrs. Valentine 2010, Mrs. Erlinda Velasco – 1st Runner-up and Mrs. Flora Principe – 2nd Runner-up.

Emcees of the evening were FCSC Vice President Frank Villareal and Treasurer Art Molina, while the birthday celebrants were presented by Cen and Tess Marcelo for the month of January, Narlo and Dita Serquiña for February and; Oley and Belen Ramos presented the March birthday celebrants.  FCSC President Clem Tigley, Jr. enumerated the various activities that are scheduled until the remainder of the year.  He emphasized that the club is financially stable and in good shape and is confident that the on-going audit by the Gaming Commission will prove that the financial books of the club is in proper order.  Thanks to the exemplary book-keeping work of its current Treasurer, Art Molina.  Clem also specifically thanked the army of volunteers for their continued support and hard work for the betterment of the organization.  Special recognition was given to Ernie and Flor Miranda for their dedicated and unequivocal services in providing Health and Wellness programs for the seniors.

The FCSC Performing Arts composed of Clem and Ancie Tigley, Art and Eve Molina, Narlo and Dita Serquiña; and Cen and Tess Marcelo presented La Jota Cagayana, a formal Filipino folk dance while Arlene Molina and Orly Argota wowed the audience with their flawless performance of the world-renowned Tinikling, with the assistance of Fred Molina and Ben Batuyong who provided the beat and tempo as bamboo clappers, after which the group sang the lively tune of Sinisinta Kita.  The reigning beauties were also entertained by the FCSC Young at Hearts composed of Clem & Ancie, Art & Eve, Gilda Fajardo & Mike Sullivan, Cesar Elarco & Gilda Jalandoni, Narlo & Dita Serquiña, Oley & Belen Ramos, and Cirilo & Erlinda Velasco by performing a choreographed cha-cha number under the direction and watchful eyes of Ernie Miranda.  Afterwards, the reigning beauties were serenaded by the group to the romantic tune of Gaano Ikaw Kamahal.

Health and Wellness Committee Chairman Ernie Miranda presented gift certificates to the winners of the recently concluded Bowl-a-Rama at the Fairview Bowling Centre in the Pacific Mall.

Shown above are the January birthday celebrants who were honored in the Valentine Dinner and Dance.  They were also presented with roses and a birthday cake.
