It’s now the start of the 2nd quarter of the year, APRIL did Spring really sprung?  Not quite yet as Winter tries to make us feel that it’s still around the corner.  Lately, weather change sporatically as Spring wants to be in and yet Winter doesn’t want to be out completely.  Hey, we’re in Calgary, remember?  So we can have all 4 weather in a day.  I’ve lived here for 17 years and have gone thru this drastic change of weather for years and years.  It’s is still a wonderful place to live - Calgary has been named The Best City to Live in Canada according to the 8th annual list of Best Places to Live in Canada by MoneySense magazine! Proud to be a Calgarian – I’ve never moved out of this city since I came to Canada and will stay here forever as this is where I was given the best life ever.  There’s lots of struggles but you just have to work harder to get your goals in life.

It is sad to note that we lost one of the legacy in the history of ALBERTA, KING RALPH KLEIN.  I remembered the “RALPH BUCKS”.  My husband and I went on a Mayan Riviera 2 weeks holiday that year when we got the $ 400.00 cheque (Ralph Bucks) and between me and my husband, we got $ 800.00 and added some of our hard earned $$$ and went on our holiday.  We met other Canadians at the resort mostly from the East and when they heard that we will stay for 2 weeks instead of one week, they just made a joke about our King Ralph giving away the $ 400.00 to every Albertan.  This is the so-colled Prosperity Bonus, also nicknamed Ralph bucks, announced in September 2005, is the name given to a program designed to pay money back to residents of the Canadian province of Alberta as a result of a massive oil-fuelled provincial budget surplus.  Yes, King Ralph will definitely be missed by every Albertan.
I hope that every Filipino in Alberta will continue to pray for a peaceful and honest election this coming May 13, 2013.  Our home country, the Philippines, needs honest leaders who will think and act for the FILIPINO people and not for their own FAMILIES and FRIENDS only.  It’s about time the our fellow Filipinos back home takes into consideration the relevance of their vote, not just because he/she is a popular actor/actress; not just because he/she comes from a prominent political clan, but should be someone who will be willing to do everything to give the Filipinos the best country every to live in.  Every vote counts so do not fail to speak up for your right by going to the polls.
Until next issue, Mabuhay ang PINOY!
