[endif] “A tradition of thanksgiving is born”

by: Tata “Tatsky” Gascon Delos Reyes

“Pistahan” is a common scenario in the Philippines.  A tradition that we have become so accustomed to and is part of our cultural heritage.  “Fiesta” (Feast) is a joyful celebration of thanksgiving and honoring a particular region’s Patron Saint. Because Filipinos are mostly religious, the art of giving thanks and praise back is a tradition. And it is in this light that a Toyota Auto Dealership located in Country Hills (NE) started a tradition of such festivity. To give honor and thanks to those who have patronize the business in the past years.

Armed with the aid of one of its Product Advisors, Mr. Alan Isidoro, the brainchild of this wonderful concept, CHT sponsored an afternoon of fun-filled festivity where Filipinos can showcase its Fil-Cdn talents.  Kasayahan Foundation members provided the entertainment for this event and performed at the second floor of the CHT Showroom.  Colorful “banderitas” (banners) were strung to signify a great celebration is going on.  There were also sponsors from different Filipino businesses and establishments that expressed their support via their rendition of goods and/or services.  Yours truly had the honor as their emcee and with me at the time was Lease Director Maynard Entereso.

This is truly a remarkable move by Country Hills Toyota for acknowledging the presence of a growing population in Calgary.  The Filipinos are not only known for being friendly and accommodating, they are also superb for making others happy by being service oriented.  CHT may have closed hundreds of purchase deals with the Filipinos in and around Calgary and what is greater than giving back to this citizenry the “Thank You” they so deserve.

Now a tradition was born and CHT pledged to have this “Pistahan” event annually going forward.  Our salute and kudos to Adrianna Laratta, PR and Marketing in charge, as well, our hats off to Fralee Frunchak, General Manager, and Rahul Kashyap, General Sales Manager.

Congratulations!
