The year just flew by, it ’s barely 45 days and we’re into 2019.  It is amazing that with the change of season, that’s how fast we can feel that the year is almost over.  We started getting snow here and there and yet we’re still in the fall season.

Mid-October to early November was a concert blasts not just in Calgary but also in Edmonton.  Week after week different concerts were held and entertained Filipino-Calgarians in different aspects.   October 20 was Aegis who’s celebrating their 20 years in the entertainment industry.  It was a full house at the Grey Eagle  Event Center and a very successful concert.  October 27 we were in Edmonton for another full house more of a variety show with   Piolo Pascual and his son Inigo Pascual together with Maris Racal and Wacky Kiray.   Then November 2 was another sold out event One Magical Night Tour with Kathryn  Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona together with Wacky Kiras and Negi.  The Genesis Event Center was again full house with a mix of attendees from millenials to seniors.  Definitely the Kathniel tandem brought “kilig” to the fans.  November 9 was another concert evening with Spongecola at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Hall.  This was more of a band concert and there were about 6 local bands as front acts.  There is one more to come on December 9 which is for Jose Mari Chan Christmas concert and for details check out the poster in the next pages.

Nowadays, we see in the social media a lot of people who call themselves “Influencer”.   But what kind of influence can  they contribute to the Filipino  community?  As a Filipino who has been here for 22 years, I’ve based all of my life’s experiences from my own ambition and goal.  I did not have to be told by anyone what to do and what not to do.  Do you want someone to dictate or to tell you where you have to go to achieve your goal?  Or should you be the one to set your sail to reach your destination.  Life is a journey, you will stumble thru different barriers and blocks and you might have to reroute the road you have to go thru, but nevertheless as long as you have  perseverance, patience and determination, you will reach your goal.  As Warren Buffet said “NEVER LET A PERSON WHO HAS ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING TELL YOU WHAT TO DO ANYTHING”.

Holiday season is fast approaching and we would like to invite you to join us on our upcoming 10th Year Anniversary Paskong Pinoy Times and the Awards Night for Outstanding Pinoy  2018 on December 7, 2018 which will be held at the Max’s Restaurant Calgary.  For tickets please call or text (403) 9752120.  Let’s celebrate the season with love and hope for a better year for our family and friends all over the world.

Until next issue, tuloy lang po ang ating mapayapa at masaganang buhay!
