Gloria says PNoy not fair to Arroyos

ABS-CBN News

MANILA, Philippines – Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo doubts if the Aquino administration would be fair to her and her family.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Arroyo cited the allegations now being hurled at her family.

“Base sa mga nangyayari, hindi. Ngunit merong tayong Konstitusyon. Meron tayong mga batas na dapat sundan at meron tayong mga korte na sila ang magtutupad sa mga ito,” she said.

President Benigno Aquino III had vowed during the election campaign to investigate allegations against the Arroyo administration and punish those who will be found guilty.

Aquino’s first executive order created the Truth Commission. While the commission’s legality was question before the Supreme Court, the Palace ordered various agencies to conduct their own probes.

“We are still collating and gathering evidence. Once we have that, we will do so and file necessary cases,” according to Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

On Thursday, the Bureau of Internal Revenue also filed a P73.85-million tax evasion complaint against Arroyo’s son, Ang Galing Pinoy party-list representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and his wife, Ma. Angela, at the Department of Justice (DOJ)  under the revitalized Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program under the Aquino administration.

The former President, meanwhile, declined to comment on the accusations against her.

Arroyo said she is content with her new life as a congresswoman.

“Gaya ng sabi ko, alam ko naman na hindi permanente ang pagka-presidente. Alam ko naman na darating itong araw na ito,” she added.

GMA’s new look

Since December, many have also noticed that the former President now looks more youthful and relaxed even though controversies continue to hound her.

“Hindi ako nag-facelift. Masasabi mong siyensiya siguro iyung hotpack, science yun o yung mga nira-rub sa mukha mo. In that sense wala iyung mga invasive,” she said.

“I avoid visible fat… pero I really only [eat] 1 full meal a day,” Arroyo added. – A
